AUSTIN— Dust off the tinsel and twinkle lights and head to a Texas State Park for some holiday fun. Forty-five Texas State Parks and 10 Texas Historical Commission State Historic Sites will be decking the halls and creating some holiday cheer at more than 80 events statewide beginning this Saturday and continuing through December.
AUSTIN – It’s the most wonderful time of the year for anglers of all ages as the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department begins stocking thousands of easy to catch, tasty rainbow trout in 185 ponds, lakes and rivers across the state Nov. 26.

Reed Morian, Chairman of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, issued the following statement regarding the results of yesterday’s election where voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 5, a constitutional amendment dedicating revenue received from the sales and use taxes collected on sporting goods to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Historical Commission:
AUSTIN— In honor of both active and retired military, daily entrance fees at Texas State Parks will be waived for all visitors Sunday, Nov. 10.
AUSTIN – With the first sightings of iconic, endangered whooping cranes along the Texas coast, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is reminding Texans to be on the lookout for these impressive birds as they move through the state.
TERLINGUA – The Terlingua Community Garden, part of the Big Bend Citizens Alliance, is partnering with Big Bend Ranch State Park (BBRSP) to host the 11th annual Green Scene Festival. In addition to education and demonstrations related to sustainability, BBRSP is providing a special presentation related to dark sky preservation.
AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is building its next generation of elite state law enforcement officers with the 64th Texas Game Warden and State Park Police Cadet class. Applications are being accepted Oct. 15-Nov. 15.
EL PASO, TX – Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site invites the public to come celebrate its 25th Annual Interpretive Fair Saturday, Oct. 19, 8 a.m. — 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 20, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. All park entrance fees will be waived, and the event is free to attend.
AUSTIN— Polish the cauldrons and dust off those brooms, Texas State Parks are getting extra spooky this October for some scary-fun events happening throughout the month. A variety of family-friendly Halloween events are scheduled for ghouls and goblins of all ages, including zombie apocalypse hikes, jack-o’-lantern scavenger hunts, trick-or-treating at the park and spooky campfire stories, just to name a few.
TERLINGUA— Big Bend Ranch State Park (BBRSP) is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a free fiesta Nov. 3 at the Sauceda Ranger Station located in the middle of the park.
