Sportsmen Reminded to Buy Texas Hunting, Fishing Licenses

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds hunters and anglers that the new 2016-2017 licenses go on sale Monday. All current year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except year-to-date fishing licenses) expire Aug. 31.

AUSTIN— After seven months of rigorous training, the 60th Texas game warden cadet class graduated today at the Texas State Capitol. The cadet class includes 41 game warden cadets and five state park police officers.

Texas Game Wardens and Menard County Sheriff Find Large-Scale Illegal Marijuana Operation

On June 29, the Menard County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Game Wardens served an evidentiary search warrant on a ranch in eastern Menard County that was conducting an alleged illegal large-scale marijuana growing operation. Texas Game Wardens initially spotted the marijuana while conducting an aerial patrol of the county.

AUSTIN – An alarming spike of boating-related fatalities on Texas waterways, including many involving paddle craft such as canoes and kayaks, is prompting a call for boaters to wear life jackets, avoid drinking alcohol and follow other safety practices heading into the peak summer boating season.
