Recreational Snapper Fishery Re-Opens April 21

AUSTIN, Texas – The National Marine Fisheries Service has announced the re-opening of the recreational fishery for red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico. Federal waters, which begin 9 nautical miles from the Texas shoreline, will open at 12:01 a.m. local time on April 21, 2005 and remain open until midnight on Oct. 31, 2005 when the recreational quota of 4.47 million pounds is projected to be caught.

Experienced Anglers Sought for Coastal Fisheries Bay Team

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is looking for some skilled anglers to help catch spotted sea trout and flounder for its hatchery breeding program. Rough work, but someone’s got to do it, and TPWD is dangling some nice bait—one angler at each of four special tournaments coming up on the Texas coast will win a lifetime fishing license.

Funding Sought To Save State Fish of Texas

ATHENS, Texas — Anglers caught four Budweiser ShareLunkers from four widely separated lakes the weekend of March 11-13, bringing the season’s total to 16.

Flat-Out Fishing Events Coming Up
