AUSTIN— Ahead of the busy spring break season, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department experts have come up with a list of tips and tricks to help families reconnect with the outdoors even if it’s only for an afternoon.
TYLER – Warm weather is great for spring breakers looking to get outside after a winter hibernating indoors, but its bad news for winter-loving rainbow trout who thrive in the colder water. Tyler area spring breakers can take advantage of the changing fishing seasons and catch the rest of these winter-fish for free 8 a.m. to noon March 12-15 at the Tyler Nature Center.
AUSTIN – Many Texans opt outside to help reconnect with nature after a long winter, but Spring Break adventures aren’t limited to swimming, camping and hiking. Fishing also offers a great way for families to experience the diverse aquatic life and scenic places that Texas has to offer.

With ample moisture currently falling across the state, anglers could see schools of the popular sport fish concentrating in their local fishing holes very soon.
AUSTIN – Simplifying largemouth bass regulations at 12 public lakes highlight this year’s list of proposed freshwater fishing regulation changes.

AUSTIN –Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) fisheries biologists and local partners took advantage of the temporary drawdown of Inks Lake to restore fish habitat and enhance fishing opportunities at the Inks Lake State Park fishing piers Thursday, Feb. 8.
ATHENS – The Fly Fish Texas Expo is back for the 18th year with a jam-packed day of activities, classes, demonstrations and vendors 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. And it’s all free with the cost of admission to the TFFC.
