New 2017-2018 Fishing Regulations

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopted a suite of changes for the 2017-2018 saltwater and freshwater fishing season this year. All new regulations take effect Friday, Sept. 1, and can be found in the Outdoor Annual.

TPW Commission Adopts New Rules for Statewide Oyster Fishery

AUSTIN- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopted new regulations for the statewide oyster fishery last week that reduce commercial possession limits, establish additional harvest restrictions and close additional bays to oyster harvest. The new rules affect both the recreational and commercial harvest of oysters.

Game Wardens Investigating Fatal Boat Crash on Lake LBJ

AUSTIN – Texas Game Wardens are investigating a boat crash on Lake LBJ that resulted in the death of 68-year-old Kingsland resident Russell B. Bowman Jr. late Sunday evening.

2017-18 Texas Hunting, Fishing Licenses on Sale Starting Tuesday, Aug. 15

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds hunters and anglers that the new 2017-2018 licenses go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 15. All current year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except year-to-date fishing licenses) expire Aug. 31.

Texas Game Wardens Investigating Fatal Sailboat Incident on Lake O’ The Pines

AUSTIN – Texas Game Wardens are investigating a fatal boating accident that occurred Saturday afternoon on Lake O’ The Pines involving three East Texas teens on a Boy Scout outing. Preliminary investigations and observations indicates the vessel, a Catamaran sailboat, collided with an overhead transmission power line and those onboard may have been electrocuted as a result.

TPWD Graduates 41 Texas Game Wardens and State Park Police Officers

AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department graduated the 61st Texas game warden and state park police officer cadet class Aug. 1 at the Texas State Capitol. The class included 34 game wardens and seven state park police officers.
