AUSTIN— After seven months of training, the 59th Texas game warden cadet class graduated today, with a new twist. This year marks the first time game wardens and state park police officers trained and graduated together in the same cadet class.
AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission today heard testimony from staff and invited guests on a variety of issues relating to Chronic Wasting Disease during a special meeting at Texas Parks and Wildlife Headquarters.
AUSTIN – Hunters are encouraged to start making plans now by applying online for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Drawn Hunts. Hunters can select from more than 35 hunt categories on 95 areas throughout the state, including hunts for whitetail, mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, exotics, turkey, alligator and more.
AUSTIN – Dove hunters will have more opportunity earlier in the season with dates and bag limits finalized recently by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
AUSTIN – Texas game wardens have completed their investigation into an alligator attack that resulted in the death of Tommie Woodard, 28, of St. Louis, Missouri. Investigators concluded that the unprecedented circumstances of the case, believed to be the first fatal alligator attack in Texas on record, warrant no further action.
AUSTIN – Texas Game Wardens are investigating several incidents from the July 4th holiday weekend, including multiple fatalities.
AUSTIN – A two-year-old white-tailed deer in a Medina County deer breeding facility has been confirmed positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). This is the first case of CWD detected in captive white-tailed deer in Texas. CWD was first detected in Texas in 2012 in free-ranging mule deer in the Hueco Mountains in far West Texas.
