TYLER – Two Smith County men have been arrested and face more than 30 charges after a random tip sparked a two-month investigation by state game wardens into a series of illegal hunting incidents.

One New Positive Found in 2014–15 Trans Pecos CWD Surveillance

AUSTIN – Chronic wasting disease (CWD) was detected in only one of 222 tissue samples that were collected from hunter harvested deer and elk from the Trans Pecos ecoregion during the 2014–15 season as part of a CWD surveillance effort. This sample was collected from a mule deer buck harvested in the Hueco Mountain area of far West Texas.

Texas Game Warden Day Observed

AUSTIN – Numerous Texas game wardens came to the state Capitol Thursday to mark Texas Game Warden Day and 120 years of service to the state. The day was designated by legislative passage of House Resolution 471 by Rep. Kyle Kacal of Austin.
