Commemorating 25 Years of Big Time Texas Hunts, Entries Open for 2021-22 Season

AUSTIN – This season, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Big Time Texas Hunts (BTTH) program commemorates 25 years of offering Texans some of the very best hunting opportunities in the state. Ten premium guided hunt packages are offered in this year’s Big Time Texas Hunts drawing.

Texas Game Wardens Wrap up Busy July 4th Weekend Boating Safety Efforts

AUSTIN – Thousands of Texans and out-of-state visitors headed to Texas lakes, rivers and coastal bays to celebrate the Independence Day weekend. Texas Game Wardens were out in force to ensure everyone stayed safe on the water.

2021-22 TPWD Drawn Hunt Permit Applications Now Being Accepted

AUSTIN — Hunters looking for a new opportunity or a change of scenery this fall are encouraged to check out the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) drawn hunt permits program. Applications are being accepted now for a shot at almost 10,000 permits in 61 hunt categories.

"Bowhunter By Fall" Aims to Help Archers Get Ready to Hit the Field this Fall

AUSTIN –Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Community Archery Program wants to help Texans learn how to harvest their own meals, join a tradition in the outdoors, and improve on or learn a new skill through “Bowhunter by Fall” .Through monthly and bi-monthly e-newsletters filled with videos and tips, archers can learn how to travel from behind the keyboard to behind the bow just in time for the fall hunting season.

Chronic Wasting Disease Discovered at Deer Breeding Facilities in Hunt and Uvalde Counties

AUSTIN – Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) has been discovered in deer breeding facilities in both Hunt and Uvalde counties. This marks the first positive detection of the disease in Hunt County.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Approves Hunting Regulations Changes for 2021-22

AUSTIN — Hunting regulations for the 2021-22 season were approved by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission at its public meeting held online March 25. Hunters will see some changes this fall, including the elimination of the experimental pronghorn season in the northern Panhandle and extension of the general pronghorn season from 9 to 16 days statewide, and the addition of two days of hunting opportunity in the Special White-winged Dove Days within the South Dove Zone.

Promising Spring Season on the Horizon for Texas Turkey Hunters

AUSTIN – Much of the Rio Grande wild turkey range in Texas experienced two great years of turkey production and recruitment in 2019 and 2020, and this means that hunters this spring season can expect to see many jakes and two-year-old gobblers across most of the Rio Grande range.
