Wulf Outdoor Sports Spring Outdoor Classic Coming to Athens April 6-17
ATHENS -- Wulf Outdoor Sports, the premium outdoor retailer for hunting, fishing, archery and firearms will be hosting their sixth annual Spring Outdoor Classic April 6-17 at their Athens store at 1220 South Palestine St.
Free in-store hunting, fishing, photography and camping demonstrations and seminars will be offered at various times during the event. The Toyota ShareLunker Program and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Wall of Shame displays will be on hand throughout the event.
Store hours during this special event are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, April 14, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Scheduled appearances by special guests and presentations will include the following among many other things that will be going on during the event.
April 9
--Troy Slaughter, St. Croix pro angler, will be here with his boat.
--Primos pro staffer Bill McGee will demonstrate the correct way to "talk turkey."
--Custom car display.
April 14
--Rick Hirsch, Henderson County Extension Agent, will present a feral hog field day from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. along with exhibits from Dillon traps and blinds.
April 16
--Larry Hodge, award-winning photographer with the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, will give a tour of in-store photos and a seminar on digital photography beginning at 10:30 a.m.
--David Nichols will display his Brass 'n Blades boats.
--James Hester with Farris Distributors will host their annual flippin' contest.
--Cajun Fryers will be on location demonstrating their amazing fryers and serving up some great-tasting samples.
--Custom car display.

Wildlife Management Workshop May 13 at Engeling Wildlife Management Area
ATHENS -- Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Anderson-Houston Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a workshop on managing small acreages for wildlife on Friday, May 13th, at the Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area north of Palestine on U.S. 287.
The workshop is designed for landowners interested in wildlife management on properties of 250 acres or less or those who are interested in wildlife tax evaluations. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Cost is $15.00, which includes a barbecue lunch. Space is limited, and payment must be made in advance. RSVP by mailing a letter with your name, property county, contact information, email address and $15 per person (check made payable to Anderson-HoustonSWCD) to Engeling WMA, 16149 N.
