Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site, Texas

Living History Through The Civilian Conservation Corps
Trent Butler is a 12-year-old on a mission. While on a Boy Scout trip, he learned about the Civilian Conservation Corps and how these men and women helped build the Texas State Park system. But being a history buff, Trent wanted to know more. A lot more. The result was a one-act one-kid play. In it, he portrays a president, a senator, and a CCC worker. His project is a true example of imagination at work, connecting past and present, inspiring all who experience it. Charlie and His Cannon, Reenactment in San Jacinto, Texas
Charlie Yates is a reenactor who has his very own cannon. He's a historian and a reeenactor participating in the reenactment of the Battle of San Jacinto. He and his team have been together for over a decade, and they join hundreds of other reenactors as they put on a show in front of a crowd of nearly 20,000 people as Sam Houston's ragtag Texian Army once again defeats the Mexican Army of Santa Anna. Sheldon Lake Environmental Learning Center, Texas
Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center is a 2,800 acre outdoor education and recreation facility located in northeast Harris County near Houston. The park is split into two units: Sheldon Lake is accessible from Garrett and Pineland/Fauna roads and the Environmental Learning Center is accessible from Beaumont Highway. The reservoir levees encompass 1,200 acres, of which 800 are permanently inundated and 400 acres are marsh and swampland.
