Papalote Encino

Papalote in Spanish means windmill and encino in Spanish refers to the oak. Papalote Encino is one of the largest operating windmills in Big Bend Ranch State Park. Surrounding this site is evidence of the human search for finding and utilizing water in a desert environment. Papalote Encino Campsite is located near an ancient prehistoric spring that no longer flows. The area surrounding Papalote Encino is great for viewing desert wildlife and is easily accessible and located northeast of the Sauceda Ranger Station.
