Primitive Campsites Closure

Effective March 25, 2020, primitive campsites will be closed through April 30, 2020. All reservations made through April 30, 2020, will be notified about refunds.

Check the Texas State Parks Alert Map or the park's website regularly for the latest information about the status of parks. The current situation is related to COVID-19 and has resulted in the inability for park staff to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff in a responsible manner. Although there have been no confirmed or presumed cases of the virus in the park, the site no longer has the capacity to ensure the necessary safeguards.

Capacity Closures

"Save the Day" passes are required for Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and school breaks. Passes are recommended for all other days, as well.

The park will close when it reaches capacity. Guarantee entry by purchasing passes online up to 30 days before your visit.

Potable Water Shortage

Jan. 9, 2020 - Due to heavy weekend visitation and the ongoing drought, potable water is extremely limited. Restrooms are closed, but portable toilets are available. Showers are only allowed from 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. daily. While drinking water is available, please bring your own. Help us conserve water during your next visit.

Trail Closures

Jan. 24, 2020 - A portion of the Loop Trail is closed due to damage from flooding. The trail has been rerouted onto the Turkey Pass Trail.

Elevated trails, including the Summit Trail, will close during wet weather.
