Former TPWD Operated Parks

  • Acton State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the Texas Historical Commission (THC), effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Admiral Nimitz State Historic Site/National Museum of the Pacific War - Operated by the THC.
  • Boca Chica Beach - Under management of the United States Fish & Wildlife Service, through a 50-year lease agreement with TPWD, effective July 2007.
  • Bright Leaf Park - Operated by the Austin Community Foundation.
  • Caddoan Mounds State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Casa Navarro State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Copano Bay Fishing Pier - Operational control of Copano Bay Fishing Pier was transferred to the Aransas County Navigation District, on Nov. 1, 2005.
  • Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Fannin Battleground State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Fort Griffin State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Fort Lancaster State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Fort McKavett State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Fulton Mansion State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Governor Hogg Shrine - Operated by the City of Quitman.
  • Jim Hogg - Operated by the City of Rusk.
  • Kerrville-Schreiner Park - Operated by the City of Kerrville.
  • Lake Houston Park - Operational control of Lake Houston Park was transferred to the City of Houston on Aug. 25, 2006.
  • Lake Texana State Park - Under the management of the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority. The park is open as Texana Park & Campground.
  • Landmark Inn State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Magoffin Home State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Matagorda Island - This site was transferred to the Wildlife Division of TPWD and is now a Wildlife Management Area.
  • Old Fort Parker - Operated by the City of Groesbeck.
  • Rusk & Palestine Parks - Operational control of the Rusk and Palestine State Parks was transferred to American Heritage Railways on Sept. 1, 2007.
  • Sabine Pass Battleground State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • San Felipe State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Sebastopol House State Historic Site - Ownership and management of Sebastopol House has been transferred to the City of Seguin, effective Sept. 1, 2011.
  • Starr Family Home State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
  • Texas State Railroad - Operational control of the Rusk and Palestine State Parks was transferred to American Heritage Railways on Sept. 1, 2007.
  • Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site - The 80th Texas Legislature transferred control of this site to the THC, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
