East Texas Fish Hatchery Update (Region E)

Design is now complete on the new East Texas Fish Hatchery which will replace the old Jasper Fish Hatchery. Largely funded by Revenue Bonds appropriated in the 80th Legislative Session and Freshwater Fish Stamp monies, construction on the project is expected to begin in June of this year if a contract can be successfully negotiated.

Applications Being Taken for Game Warden Academy (All regions)

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is taking applications for a game warden cadet class scheduled to start Oct. 1, 2008. Applications will be accepted through March 31.

It is anticipated that up to 55 cadets will be accepted into the 54th Game Warden Academy, which will begin its seven-month training in October. More than 400 people applied for the 40 positions in the previous cadet class that will graduate in May.   (Read more...)
