Battleship Texas Deemed Safe to Tow To Dry-Berth Repairs (Region U)

Preliminary results of a survey and engineering study, funded and managed by Battleship TEXAS Foundation and performed by Proceanic, Inc., indicate that the ship is sound enough to be towed a short distance to a temporary berth in the Houston Ship Channel while a new dry-berth is constructed in the ship's current location and that she is structurally sound enough to support herself once placed in the dry berth. The final and complete Proceanic report will be delivered in early April 2008.

Applications Being Taken for Game Warden Academy (All regions)

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is taking applications for a game warden cadet class scheduled to start Oct. 1, 2008. Applications will be accepted through March 31.

It is anticipated that up to 55 cadets will be accepted into the 54th Game Warden Academy, which will begin its seven-month training in October. More than 400 people applied for the 40 positions in the previous cadet class that will graduate in May.   (Read more...)
