State Auditor Recommendations Being Addressed

Significant progress has been made by Texas Parks and Wildlife staff in developing and implementing organizational improvements as a result of the State Auditor's Office Report issued in March 2006. Eight separate TPWD Divisions have contributed to the agency's work in this area. The agency has fully addressed most of the recommendations outlined in the State Audit Report and is on schedule to complete all recommendations in the months ahead. More than 320 employees have received training in fiscal control and business management process changes with a goal of improving the overall effectiveness and management of a very diverse state park system. The agency has hired 16 additional internal auditors to assist in the monitoring of the new fiscal control processes.
