State Parks Bond Repair Program Underway

TPWD received approval from the LBB on May 20, 2008 of our Business Plan for State Parks FY08-09 repair and construction program. That approval was necessary before any of the bonds approved by voters and the Legislature could be released to TPWD to begin state park repairs. The Bond Review Board approved the bond package on July 17, 2008 and the first funding will become available to the Agency in August. In order to accelerate the implementation of the projects, TPWD is bundling them instead of bidding them individually. A request for qualifications was issued July 1 and on August 1, TPWD received twenty-eight responses to the request which are now in the process of review. Design contracts will be in place this fall, and then design work will commence. Project construction will begin next Fall. All projects in the program are expected to be completed by November 2011.
