The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will meet in Houston to consider a full agenda on August 20-21, 2008. For the first time in nearly a decade, the Commission will meet outside of Austin. The meeting will be held at the Brown Education Center at the Houston Zoo (Directions). At 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 20, the Commission will hold its annual public hearing in which any citizen can testify before the Commission on any issue related to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The Sunset review process for TPWD is proceeding on schedule. Sunset staff have met with TPWD representatives in about three dozen individual meetings. Five field trips have been organized and sunset staff has visited 14 TPWD field locations. Additional scoping meetings with Commissioners and Constituents are now underway. The Sunset staff report is expected to be published in November 2008 and a public hearing before the Sunset Commission is scheduled for December 16th and 17th. The decision meeting of the Sunset Commission is scheduled on January 14th.
