    Jan. 13, 2026 - Some areas will be closed in coming weeks due to construction.

    • Beginning Jan. 26, the north and west sides of Lake Mina and portions of the Lake Mina Loop will be closed for bridge construction for 12 weeks.
    • Beginning Feb. 9, the east parking lot for the Tree Army Trails and portions of the Stone Mason Course will be closed for putting green construction for six weeks.

    Lake Closure

    March 1, 2025 - The main lake remains closed to allow plants to re-establish after construction. Fishing is available at Lake Mina.

    Nov. 24, 2025 - The park now has a new, one-way traffic pattern in place. Observe traffic signs for your safety. 

    Hydrilla Alert

    Sept. 1, 2025 - The lake is infested with hydrilla, an invasive plant that creates large mats of vegetation across the surface of the water. We are working on controlling and removing the hydrilla, but it can affect swimming, fishing and boating. 

    Please remember to always clean, drain and dry your boat!

    • Argentine ants have been identified in some of our campsites. These invasive ants do not sting. Be prepared to treat around your vehicle and camping equipment. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is working to reduce the number of ants without harming the park's natural resources.

    Lane Closure

    Jan. 8, 2026 - A 0.5-mile section of the main road is reduced to one lane past the Windmill Trailhead. Please follow all posted signage, barricades and directions for your safety.

    Carry Water When Hiking

    Nov. 24, 2025 - Carry plenty of water for you, your family and your pets when hiking. Experts recommend one liter of water per person per hour of activity, no matter the temperature. Many of our trails are rocky and unshaded.

    We highly recommend making day pass or camping reservations before visiting. Reserve online or by calling 512) 389-8900 to guarantee entry.

Cooper State Park Cooper, TX

    Restroom Closure

    Jan. 29, 2026 - Honey Creek Restroom is closed due to electrical issues. The Honey Creek fish cleaning station is open but does not have electricity.

    Low Lake Level

    Sept. 11, 2025 - The Honey Creek boat ramp at the South Sulphur unit is closed due to the low lake level. The boat ramps at South Sulphur in Gulls Bluff, Tira Satellite boat ramp, and Doctors Creek at Lone Pine remain open.

    Facility Closures

    Jan. 23, 2025 - The Sunset Cove Day-use Area is closed through late spring 2026. Construction will be underway on a replacement fishing pier and other upgrades.

    May 10, 2024 - The floating dock in the Heron Harbor Day-use Area at the South Sulphur Unit is closed due to damage. Fishing access from the wall is still open.

    Trail Alert

    Trails close to horseback riders after rainfall. Check conditions before you come by calling the park.

    Jan. 28, 2026 - The park is fully open, but water remains shut off due to freezing temperatures. Running water is available at the headquarters restrooms during normal office hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

      Trails in this area are closed, including parts of the Madrone Trail, Blinn River Trail, and the lower portion of the CCC Entrance Road Trail.

      Jan. 27, 2026 - Habitat restoration and marsh wetlands construction will begin in June 2026. This project will not affect campsites but expect maintenance equipment on the west end of the Island.

      Argentine ants, an invasive species, have been identified in some campsites in the park. The ants do not sting.

      Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is working with experts to reduce the ants without harming natural resources. Before leaving, thoroughly inspect your vehicle, RV, camping gear and other equipment; if you see the ants, please notify park staff immediately and they can offer guidance for treating.       Facility Closures

      July 2, 2025 - The restrooms in the Shady Grove Loop are closed due to an issue with the sewer system. Restrooms at in other areas of the park are open.

      March 3, 2025 - Our ADA kayak launch is closed for repairs. 

      Firewood Quarantine

      May 16, 2024 - This county is under a quarantine to prevent the spread of the emerald ash borer to other areas of the state. This means movement of firewood is restricted.

      Please buy firewood where you burn it to prevent the spread of diseases and pests.

      Campground Closures

      Jan. 27, 2026 - The Riverbend, North Concho, and Bald Eagle campgrounds remain closed due to a water line break.

      Flood Closures

      Dec. 4, 2025 - Lower Ghost Camp Trail is closed due to flood damage. Observe closure signs for your safety.

      Sticker Bur Alert

      We have lots of sticker burs in and around our campsites right now. Wear good shoes and be cautious with pets and children.

      North Shore Gate Locked

      Look for the gate code on your entry receipt or check in at the South gatehouse (362 S. FM 2288).

    Sea Rim State Park Sabine Pass, TX

      Beach Closures

      Jan. 1, 2026 - The East Beach will be closed to all traffic, including foot traffic, through Feb. 6, 2026, for feral hog hunts.

      Jan. 30, 2025 - Due to damage from high tides, a large washout about a mile down West beach is limiting vehicle access.

    South Llano River State Park Junction, TX

      Burn Ban

      Jan. 16, 2025 - The park is under a burn ban. Wood and charcoal fires are not allowed. You may cook with containerized fuel stoves.

      Construction Notice

      Jan. 19, 2026 - Water and electric campsites, walk-in sites, shower facility and the Bald Eagle Amphitheater are closed for construction. The closure will affect parking lots for the Juniper Blind and the Overlook and Fawn trails. 

      Access backcountry trails from the Agarita Trail parking lot. Access the Acorn Blind from the River Trail. 

      River access, trails and all other bird blinds are open. 

      Expect noise, construction traffic on the roadways, and possible road or lane closures.

      Only hunters with permits will be allowed in during these times.
