Wichita Reservoir

Lake Wichita now has enough water for recreational boating. However, the fish population has been severely hampered by prolonged drought, golden alga blooms, and periods of low dissolved oxygen. It is not currently recommended as a fishing destination.

Looking Forward

Lake Wichita is the third oldest man-made lake in Texas and several groups are working together on a historic revitalization project. For more information, please visit For progress reports, visit Friends of Reservoirs, Lake Wichita Chapter on Facebook.
