Kerr WMA: Deer Research Projects

Effects of Selection for Typical 10-Pt Antler Configurations

Whitetail Antler Whitetail Antler

In conjunction with the Genetic/Environmental Interaction study, we have been able to design a single breeding pen each year for the past three years to propagate a group of deer related to bucks exhibiting 5X5 typical framed antlers. Under the guidance of Dr. John Williams, this pilot project has been able to proceed for three breeding seasons as part of the current study. It is currently our desire to establish two breeding pens this year to finalize the breeding portion of the project. Results would be obtained as these deer reach maturity.
