AUSTIN— A new policy being implemented to the Texas State Parks Reservation System aims to provide greater access to high demand facilities.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is responding to customer feedback on the difficulty of obtaining reservations for popular park sites and facilities. Implementing a two-date transfer limit for reservations at all site types will allow visitors greater access to facilities at our most popular parks. Any changes needed thereafter will require canceling the reservation, refunding the advanced deposit less administrative charges, and making a new reservation for an available site.

The change goes into effect June 1 and applies to all current and future reservations regardless of park or site type.

This is one of many changes being implemented intended to reduce wait times and allow new reservations to be made within reasonable timeframes.

Transfers initiated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department due to park closures, system errors, or operator errors will not count toward customer transfer limits.
