    • The Lost Pines Loop (Purple Trail) is closed from the 'Old Road Bed” east; this includes the north and south portions of the trail. You will still be able to use the Purple Trail from Park Road 1A to the Old Road Bed.

    Feb. 20, 2021 - The park is open. Access to day-use restrooms will be intermittent due to repairs from the winter storm.

    If you have trouble reaching us on our main telephone line, please call (972) 291-6641. We are having issues with the main phone line.

    Other closures 

    These areas are closed due to flood damage:

    • The entire day use area, near the Lakeview camping loop, is closed until 2022 at the earliest. This closure includes the North Boat Ramp, beach swim area, area restrooms,  and the jetty portion of Loop J.
    • Various shoreline campsites
    • Pavilion
    • Some camping areas
    • J-loop day-use area (near Penn Farm)
    • The Marina is permanently closed and bait isn't for sale in the park.

    We have no water, so you will need to bring your own. Do not use any water that you may get from spigots in the park, as it is not safe. 

    Sick Wildlife

    We've seen an unusual number of sick wildlife in the park. Testing is underway to determine the cause.

    Remember: Do not approach or try to feed wildlife. Pets should always be on leash and should not be left unattended.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area Fredericksburg, TX

    Park Closed

    Feb. 24, 2021 - The park is closed due to storm damage. We plan to reopen for day visitation and limited camping on Friday, Feb. 26. Some areas and trails may be closed, after the park reopens. 

    Reservations Required

    Advanced reservations for day passes and overnight stays are required on weekends, school breaks and holidays. While not required on regular weekdays, we usually reach capacity every day. To guarantee entrance reserve passes online, or by calling the customer service center, before you visit.

    Critical Water Shortage

    Due to ongoing drought, potable water is extremely limited. Restrooms may be closed, but portable toilets will be made available. While drinking water is available, please bring your own to help us conserve water during your next visit.

    Trail Closures

    A portion of the Loop Trail is closed due to damage from flooding. The trail has been rerouted onto the Turkey Pass Trail. Elevated trails, including the Summit Trail, will close during wet weather. Get trail status updates here, or on our Facebook page or Twitter feed.

      Feb. 24, 2021 - The park store, marina, pier, and the day-use area boat ramp, are closed. The only open boat ramp (screened shelter area) has restricted access.

      Only overnight campers can use the boat ramp on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. From Monday through Thursday, all visitors can use the boat ramp but parking is very limited.

      These temporary construction closures are due to repairs and improvements of the fishing pier and the boat ramp next to it.

      The Trailway is open to hikers, bikers and horseback riders.  Two miles of access are available from the Nails Creek Unit and 7 miles are available from the Birch Creek Unit.  The area around Flag Pond, CR 125, CR 140 and the Sandhill are also open to all users.  

      You must possess a current negative Coggins test for your horse. Equestrian parking for the Trailway is permitted at the access gate on CR 125 and CR 140.

      Feb. 23, 2021 - We are open for day-use visits Wednesday through Sunday; camping is allowed every night.

      We are operating at limited capacities. All day-use and camping slots are usually filled in advance. To guarantee entry to the park, please make a reservation online, or by calling the customer service center, before you visit.

      The Youth Group camping area is open, but is limited to 25 campers.

      Feb. 22, 2021 - The following areas are closed:

      • Isle du Bois Unit: Pavilions and some campsites
      • Johnson Branch Unit: Pavilion and some campsites 
      • The Greenbelt section of equestrian trail south of Hwy 428.
      • The Greenbelt multiuse trail from 2 miles south of Hwy 428 Park to Hwy 380 Park (which is also closed)

      The following areas at Isle du Bois will be closed June 7-13, for a fishing tournament:

      • Day-use area
      • Boat ramp
      • DORBA Trail parking lot

      Please use other boat ramps and the facilities at Johnson Branch during this time period. Camping and other areas of the park will remain open.

      Construction has begun on a new Park Headquarters and Visitors Center and is taking place next to the Cedar Point Camping Area. Campers in Cedar Point should expect construction noise during daylight hours after 7 a.m.
