Natural Area Hours

Government Canyon is open Friday through Monday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Campgrounds are open Friday and Saturday nights, only. We are closed Tuesday through Thursday.

We open additional days and/or offer additional camping nights around holidays.

Holiday Hours

MLK Day 

No additional days open.  However, the campground is open one additional night – Sunday, Jan. 19.

President’s Day (Washington’s Birthday)

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, Feb. 16.

Spring Break

We are open March 7 - 24. Camping is available the nights of March 7 - 22.

Note: The Gallery, Pavilion and Kallison Amphitheater are available for rental on these dates.

Good Friday (Easter Weekend)

We are open April 17 - 21. Camping is available the nights of April 17-20. 

Note: The Gallery, Pavilion and Kallison Amphitheater are available for rental on these dates.

Memorial Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, May 25.

Emancipation Day 

No additional days open. 

Independence Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, July 6.

Labor Day 

We are open Aug. 29 - Sept. 2. Camping is available the nights of Aug. 29 - Sept. 1.

Columbus Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, Oct. 12.

Veteran’s Day

No additional days open.

Thanksgiving

We are open Nov. 21 - Dec. 1. Camping is available the nights of Nov. 21 - 30.

Christmas/New Year

We are open Dec. 19 - Jan. 5, 2026. Camping is available the nights of Dec. 19 - Jan. 4.
