Park Schedule

Government Canyon is open Friday through Monday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Campgrounds are open Friday and Saturday nights, only. We are closed Tuesday through Thursday.

We open additional days and/or offer additional camping nights around holidays. 

Below is our holiday schedule for 2023. Contact the park for more information.

MLK Day 

No additional days open.  However, the campground is open one additional night – Sunday, Jan. 15.

President’s Day (Washington’s Birthday)

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, Feb. 19.

Spring Break

We are open continuously March 3 - 20. Camping is available the nights of March 3 - 19.

Note: The Gallery, Pavilion and Kallison Amphitheater are available for rental on these dates.

Memorial Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, May 28.

Emancipation Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, June 18. 

Independence Day 

We are open continuously from June 30 through July 4. Camping is available the nights of June 30 and July 1 - 3.

Labor Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, Sept. 3.

Columbus Day 

No additional days open. However, the campground is open an additional night – Sunday, Oct. 8.

Veteran’s Day

No additional days open.

Thanksgiving

We are open continuously Nov. 17 – 27. Camping is available the nights of Nov. 17 - 26.

Christmas/New Year

We are open continuously from Dec. 15 through Jan. 1, 2024. Camping is available the nights of Dec. 15 - 31.
