Intro to Paddling

Learn the basics of paddling and test your new skills on Wright Patman Lake!
Accessibility: Parking will be available at Boat Ramp. Restroom is available nearby. Drinking water is available at water spigot. Path to program is pavement and grass with a brief elevation change.

Program Expectations: THIS IS A BEGINNER PADDLING CLASS! Program will cover all the basics of paddling and safety instruction prior to getting on the water. After safety and presentation, one ranger will lead a guide around a cove to practice your new skills. Expect the possibility of getting wet so bring clothes and shoes you do not mind getting wet. Bring plenty of water and snacks to keep you hydrated and fueled.
When: 2 - 3 p.m.
Where: Knight's Bluff Boat Ramp
What to bring:
- Kayak/Canoe/Paddle/Lifejacket/etc.
- Water
- Sunscreen/Hat/Sunglasses
- Bug Spray
- Water shoes/boots
- Clothes you do not mind getting wet
Program is included in park entry fees- $3 per person ages 13 and older, 12 and under are free. No need to register, just show up! Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced on Atlanta State Park Facebook page or you can call park headquarters.
