How do you teach yourself to be a birder?
Taking up birding as a hobby can be confusing and overwhelming. Nobody knows this better than Balmorhea's Ranger Em- a novice birder herself!
Winter birding offers a unique advantage, however, with fewer leaves to obstruct your view. If your New Year's resolution is to get outside more, now is a great time to start! Join us for a walk through the park, where you'll acquire some beginner birding skills and learn methods to identify and study birds on your own.
- Cost: Free with park entry
- Meet: At the double-arched shaded area between the bathhouses
- Difficulty: Short, mostly flat walk over various terrain, 1 mile at most
- Bring: Binoculars, walking shoes, and any field guides you want to practice with (Binoculars will be provided if you do not have a pair of your own)
