Archeology in the Park: Field Session

2:00p to 4:00p
Fri, January 26, 2024
Layla Spurlock
(432) 424-3327, x2

Calling all amateur archeologists! This field session will teach you the methods that archeologists use to preserve the past.

Join Ranger Layla at Big Bend Ranch State Park's Field Camp. Here you will discover what exactly goes into an archeological dig and the role archeologists play in preserving the past.

While you will be 'digging' this is not an actual archeological site. This site has been set up for teaching purposes for proper excavation practices.

When: Friday, January 26, 2024 from 2 PM to 4 PM.

Where: Barton Warnock Visitor Center.

Bring: Water. We recommend 1 L per hour of recreation.

Wear: Layers, a hat, and comfortable hiking shoes. (Clothing you aren't worried about getting dirty).

Cost: This event is free with park admission; $5 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas Sate Parks Pass
