The monsoon season marks a second breeding cycle for birds and the beginning of fall migration. Making this one of the best times to see a wide diversity of birds at Big Bend Ranch State Park!

Come discover the diverse birds of the monsoon season in the Chihuahuan Desert. 

When: Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 9 AM to 11 AM. 

Where: Ojito Adentro trailhead. Located on Main Park Road approximately 8 miles east of Sauceda Ranger Station. 

Distance: 1.4 mi round trip.

Difficulty: Moderate. There is some rock climbing and narrow passageways. 

Bring: Water, snack, & sunscreen. We recommend 1 L for every hour you hike. Binoculars and cameras are highly recommended. 

Wear: Good hiking footwear, long sleeves, pants, and a hat. 

Cost: This event is free with park admission; $5 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
