Join a ranger to look at the importance of the river to the Chihuahuan Desert environment.

Learn about the health of the Rio Grande and the indigenous people who used it to survive in the Chihuahuan Desert.

When: Thursday, May 9 & Wednesday May 15, 2024 from 10 AM to 11 AM. 

Where: Colorado Canyon river access point. Located on FM 170 (River Road) approximately 23 miles west of Barton Warnock Visitor center and 25 miles east of Fort Leaton State Historic Site. 

Bring: Bug spray and water. We recommend 1 L per hour of recreation.

Wear: A wide brimmed hat, a lightweight long-sleeved shirt, and sunscreen. 

Cost: This event is free with park admission; $5 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
