Join Ranger Layla on a trek through Closed Canyon to learn how geology shapes life in the park!

Geology, it's complicated and exciting! It also shapes everything we see in the park. Join Ranger Layla on a 1 mile hike through Closed Canyon to learn how the geology of this canyon makes way for life to emerge. 

When: Monday, March 11, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 PM. 

Where: Closed Canyon Trailhead. Located on FM 170 (River Road) approximately 21 miles to the west of Barton Warnock Visitor Center and 26 miles to the east of Fort Leaton State Historic Site. 

Bring: Water. We recommend 1 L per hour of recreation.

Wear: Lightweight layers, hat, and comfortable hiking shoes. Be sure to check the weather for temperatures start to cool off. 

Cost: This event is free with park admission; $5 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
