Join Ranger Layla on a trek through Closed Canyon to learn how geology shapes life in the park!

Geology, it's complicated and exciting! It also shapes everything we see in the park. Join Ranger Layla on a 1-mile hike through Closed Canyon to learn how the geology of this canyon makes way for life to emerge. 

When: Saturday, Jan. 27,2024, from 10 AM - noon. 

Where: Closed Canyon Trailhead. Located on FM 170 (River Road) about 21 miles from Barton Warnock Visitor Center and 26 miles from Fort Leaton State Historic Site. 

Bring: Water. We recommend 1 liter per hour of recreation.

Wear: Lightweight layers, hat, and comfortable hiking shoes. Be sure to check the weather.

Cost: This event is free with park admission; $5 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
