Join Ranger Layla to uncover what makes the Rio Grande spectacular!

The Rio Grande is an iconic feature, providing an important source of water in our desert landscape. However, it is at risk. Join Ranger Layla on a 1 mile hike to discover how the Rio Grande sustains life in the desert and what you can do to protect it. 

When: Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10 - 11 AM. 

Where: Hoodoos Trailhead. Located on FM 170 (River Road) about 26 miles from Barton Warnock Visitor Center and 22 miles from Fort Leaton State Historic Site. 

Distance: 1-mile round trip. 

Difficulty: Easy to moderate.  

Bring: Water. We recommend 1 liter for every hour you hike.

Wear: Lightweight layers, a hat, and comfortable hiking shoes. 

Cost: This event is free with park admission; $5 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
