Things That Go Bump

Learn about the spooky sounds you hear at night and the unique creatures that make them on a guided hike through the park.

The night is dark, and we aren't adapted for it, but that doesn't mean those creepy sounds you hear out there are actually dangerous. Come learn about those sounds and the nocturnal animals that call Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park their home. You will realize the things that go bump are usually much more fun than scary.

What to Expect: Approximately 1.5 - 2 mile hike (round trip). About 2 hrs. Mostly paved road with some possible uneven terrain.

Meet: Park Headquarters, Tram Turnaround

Bring: Water, weather appropriate clothing, bug spray and flashlights (Note: flashlights will be available to use but bring your own if you might leave early)

Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE 12 & under (Park entry free with Texas State Park Pass.)
