Buffalo Soldier Heritage Day at Fort Richardson

Celebrate Texas Buffalo Soldier Heritage Month at Fort Richardson SHS. This will be a day to honor and celebrate the legacy of Buffalo Soldiers who served in the U.S. Army after the Civil War. Many of the these soldiers were stationed right here at Fort Richardson State Historic Site.

Step back in time and walk the in the footsteps of the Buffalo Soldiers who served our country and lived right here at Fort Richardson State Historic Site.

Get a glimpse of a Buffalo Soldier's life on post at Fort Richardson. Hear stories about these brave men and all they did to help tame the Texas Frontier. Play some of the historic games the Buffalo Soldiers might have played when off duty.

Visitors can also explore the grounds and historic buildings of Fort Richardson. Make sure to visit with Lt. Dolifka and other living historians and help us celebrate Texas Buffalo Soldier Heritage Month!
