Incredible Edible Hike

Join a local forager and park ranger for a "taste"* of Caddo! *Tasting is not guaranteed.*
Accessibility: Parking will be available at Saw Mill Pond. Restroom is available nearby and has a ramp. Drinking water is available at HQ or a spigot next to the restroom. Path to program is pavement, concrete sidewalk, dirt, and rock steps. Program path consists of pavement and mild terrain consisting of dirt, sand, and small rocks. Trail hazards include but are not limited to: Poison ivy, snakes, tree roots, mosquitoes, and unlevel terrain.
Program Expectations: Program will discuss the edible organisms that are found inside the park and the ethics of foraging. The hike will be short and slow-pace but may consist of trip hazards, and narrow pathways. *A WAIVER WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS. Eating any organism (plant, fungi, or animal) during the program is at YOUR OWN discretion. The organisms we might be eating are known to be relatively safe to humans BUT allergic reactions or adverse effects are not ruled out for individuals.*

- Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, etc)
Program is included in park entry fees- $4 per person ages 13 and older, 12 and under are free. No need to register, just show up! Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced on Caddo Lake State Park Facebook page or you can call park headquarters.
