Adults and children can view the Perseid Meteor Shower with telescopes, s'mores and more!
Come to the Recreation Complex of Choke Canyon State Park to view the yearly Perseid Meteor Shower!
This event:
- Is free with normal park entry fees ($5 for people 13 and over)
- Is from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm
- Is BYOT (Bring Your Own Telescope) with a park telescope provided, AND an astronomical society bringing telescopes
- Includes s'mores and night-sky themed learning opportunities
- Is pet and child friendly
- Has an INFLATABLE PLANETARIUM!

The Perseid Meteor Shower occurs once a year. Its peak is August 12th at Midnight this year. It is visible on the 16th as well, giving more people the opportunity to come out on a Saturday night!
Want to see the peak? Come on the night of the 12th to stargaze from midnight to dawn!
