Birdwatching 101

Learn the basics of bird watching.

Join a Ranger to learn the basics of birding, the local species, and how to identify them. Afterwards, we'll take a walk around the Bluebonnet Day Use area looking for birds putting your new skills to the test.
A Cooper Lake State Park Bird checklist provided. 

Meet at Bluebonnet Day Use Area at 10:30 a.m.

Bring your binoculars, bird identification guide, water, dress for the weather, and wear sunscreen.

Cost: Park programs are open to the public and free with park entrance fee ($5 per persons ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are always free! Park entry free with Texas State Park Pass). No need to register -- just show up!
