Sensory Stroll

Join a Ranger for a slow, family-friendly hike to experience nature through your five senses!

Come connect more deeply with the outdoors while learning how observation is the first step to understanding and protecting nature. This program is designed for families with children, but all ages are welcome!

Meet: Pelican Point Parking Lot at 10 am. No sign-up required.

Prepare: This is a short, leisurely walk on an easy trail, lasting about 45 minutes to an hour. The focus is on slowing down and noticing — not distance or speed. Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.

Bring: Water, bug spray, and curiosity! You’re also welcome to bring a small snack to enjoy as we talk about taste in nature.

Cost: Park programs are open to the public and free with a paid park entrance fee of $5 per person ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are always free! Park entry is free with the Texas State Park Pass. No need to register—just show up!

*Events and programs are subject to cancellation due to weather; if cancelled, an update will be made to this posting. Please contact park staff for more information and the latest updates.
