Stargazing

Come to witness the full moon known as the Cold Moon.

During December, winter has come and the cold attaches its grip, hence, the Cold Moon. Some Native American tribes call the last full moon of the year the Long Night Moon. 

Meet Ranger Alicia at the Heron Harbor swim beach area at 6 p.m. for a spectacular view of the full moon! 

Suggested items to bring are: Binoculars, Telescope, Chair, Blanket, and Water. Dress for the weather.

Cost: Park programs are open to the public and free with park entrance fee ($5 per persons ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are always free! Park entry free with Texas State Park Pass). No need to register -- just show up!
