Sunset Wonders of the Sky Island

Come learn why our sky island is so wonderful during the evening on this walk 'n' talk.

Did you know we are located within the Chihuahuan Desert on a sky island? Join park host Carol on this relatively easy, 1-mile walk 'n' talk along Skyline Drive Trail. She will reveal the science behind the beautiful evening sky colors and discuss our crepuscular critters. You'll also learn what a sky island is (if you don't already know!). This section of trail is relatively easy, but there are some rock steps to descend. 

Meet: At the far end of Skyline Drive by the CCC Rock Lookout (a 10-minute drive from headquarters)

Bring: sturdy shoes, water, bug spray, binoculars, camera, dog-friendly

Cost: Free for campers or day users w/ permit - daily entrance fee is $6.00/adult, or free for the carload with Texas State Park Pass
