Become a TPWD Certified Angler Education Fly Fishing Instructor.
This free workshop is only open to participants 18 and older that have fly fishing experience and are interested in teaching fly fishing skills in their communities. After certification, the program provides the curriculum, equipment (where available), materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce others to fishing. Ideal for fly fishing clubs, teachers, scout, or youth group leaders, after school or camp staff and community volunteers. TEA-approved CPE available for teachers.
Participants will need to bring their own fly rod & reel with complete line setup to use during the workshop. We will have time to fish. The workshop will present fly fishing teaching methods in casting, aquatic ecology, line setup and flies, and educational resources available through the TPWD Angler Education Program. Participants should dress for the weather, wear comfortable clothing and footwear for outdoor activities, bring a lunch, water bottle and sunscreen.
Pre-registration is required and is limited to 12 attendees. Courses may be canceled due to low enrollment or circumstances beyond our control.
