Celebrate the families who called Fort Leaton home for generations by joining in the cultural traditions of Dia de los Muertos!
Student docents will be available to share information about this colorful Mexican holiday that is best enjoyed in the borderlands. Experience the traditions of Dia de los Muertos. Learn about the lore and history of those who lived at Fort Leaton in the 19th century.
Festivities include:
Self-guided tours of Fort Leaton
Traditional decorations, including altars for los muertos del Fortín.
Pan de muerto.
Bring: Water, sunscreen, and snacks.
Wear: Comfortable clothing, close-toed shoes, and a hat.
Meet: The front entrance to the fort.
Cost: Free with park admission. Park admission is free with a Texas Parks Pass.
