See how trade on the Chihuahuan Trail evolved between Native Americans and Europeans at the Fort Leaton then learn how to make your own beads.
Trade between Native Americans and Europeans was crucial to European success and became a prevalent part of Native American culture. Trade beads were the most often traded item. Learn about trade beads and their influence on the La Junta people who prospered here in the Big Bend area.

Where: Fort Leaton State Historic Site.Located on East FM 170 (River Road), approximately 1 mile outside Presidio and 51 miles west of the Barton Warnock Visitor Center. Activity will be held in the Formal Parlor of Fort Leaton.
Bring:
- Clothing you don't mind getting dirty (working with brown clay)
- Water bottle (we have a refill station)
Cost: This event is free with park admission, $5 per person 13 and older. Park Admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
