Dutch oven cooking demonstration
Join a park ranger to learn what was cooking in the borderlands!
We will take a step back in time to explore the history of cooking in the borderlands, talk about some best practices when it comes to cooking with a Dutch oven, and learn how to recreate a delicious recipe at your own campsite!
What to expect: Learn a little bit about the history of Dutch oven use in this region; learn the basics of how to properly care for and use cast iron cookware; observe a cooking demonstration; and sample a dish made by our ranger while supplies last.
When: Saturday, January 20, 2024 from Noon - 2 PM
Where: In the corral area at Fort Leaton near the bakery
Bring a camp chair and your own flatware to reduce the amount of single-use items used (optional).
Cost: Adults 13 and older, $5; Children age 12 and under, free admission. Park admission is free with a Texas Parks Pass.
