A Daily Life of Cavalry Solider
Thu, January 22, 2026
For everyone who’s ever wondered: “Would I thrive on the frontier… or immediately beg for modern plumbing?”
Join our rangers as they will be dressed up as Regimental Cavalry Quartermaster Sergeant as they conduct their daily inspections through the fort.
They will lead you through the wild world of 1870–1874 Fort Richardson. Along the way, you’ll step inside some of our most iconic historic buildings here at the fort.
Things You Should Know:
Meet: Interpretive Building
Bring: Dress for the weather as the buildings do not have central AC/Heat, Walking shoes, and drinking water
Cost: Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees. Park admission is free with a Texas State Park Pass (purchased before event).
*Note: Starting January 2026, this special living-history tour will ride into town once a month, every 3rd Wednesday.
All standard weekday tours continue at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, because the frontier may have been unpredictable, but our tour schedule isn’t.
