Come see the true master of the tides with our telescope. The one and only moon!

Park Rangers will take you on a short program and help you discover the mysteries of la luna, or the moon, while we explore the night life of Galveston Island State Park!

The nighttime is the right time to explore... As we say in the ranger station, "Half the Park is After Dark!"

What to expect: Introduction in the Nature Center, walk (less than 0.3 miles) on the Heritage Trail to one of the darkest places in the park to view the moon using a telescope.

  • Bring: Bug spray, water, flashlight or headlamp with red lens, weather appropriate clothing (long pants and long sleeves preferred) and close-toed shoes.
  • Meet: Nature Center; paved areas and some packed earth surfaces
  • Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 & under. Park entry free with a State Parks Pass.
    • The office will be closed at the start of the program. Day use passes can be purchased online in advance or with exact cash when arriving to the park.

*Events and programs subject to cancellation due to weather. Please contact park staff for more information and further updates.
