Explore the park after dark!

Join a ranger on a 1 mile hike of Turks Cap trail. Discover what nocturnal animals call Goose Island home. We'll have a limited supply of UV black lights for scorpion spotting.

Meet: Turks Trail parking lot near Warbler Way and Youth Group Area.
Age: This program is best suited for those 5yrs and older.
Bring: water, bug spray, comfortable walking shoes, and a Red or UV light. We'll use UV lights to spot scorpions! We will NOT use regular flashlights until the END of the program.
Length: About 1 mile
Accessibility: This program takes place on a trail with uneven, sandy areas. For questions on accessibility, email sara.rock@tpwd.texas.gov
*Note: We recommend wearing long sleeves and pants to help with mosquitoes/bugs.

FYI:

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.
  • Program is free with park entrance ($5/person, children 12 & under are free) or Texas State Parks Annual Pass.
  • Groups larger than eight please contact Ranger Sara for a private event (sara.rock@tpwd.texas.gov)
