Learn kayaking basics then follow a Park Ranger or volunteer on a Guided Paddle to Devil's Waterhole!

Have fun learning a new skill and about our "Gneiss" Natural Resources here at Inks Lake State Park!

We will be exploring the shore of Inks Lake State Park and its natural resources on this paddling trip. We'll talk about Riparian ecosystems, the plants and animals in and around the water, and the Geology (rocks) down at Devil's Waterhole.

Kayaks will be available to the first 10 to sign up. Sign up here AFTER reading the rest of this post!:

There is no extra cost for this program but valid Day-Use Passes are required for all adults 13 and over. Reserving your Day-Use Pass in advance is recommended especially on busy weekends and Holidays.

Expect:

  • Moderate to extreme physical activity in the great outdoors
  • Small group instruction and guidance
  • 1.5 hour paddling trip to Devil's Waterhole and back
  • Possible cancellations due to weather
  • Anything that goes out may get wet or completely submerged - including you!

What to bring:

Water and snacks
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat that won't blow away
Towel or dry clothes for after

Note: For safety reasons, we will not allow any children under the age of 5 to participate. Children ages 5-12 will be required to ride in a tandem kayak with their guardian. Children ages 13 and older can use their own single kayak if they have the physical capability to control it on their own.

You will be required to sign a waiver before participating and are asked to follow all program rules and guidelines. Refusal to follow all stated rules will result in exclusion from the activity.

•Please note, anything you bring in the kayak could possibly get wet or end up at the bottom of the lake. Inks Lake State Park is not responsible for any lost items. We do not have dry bags at this time.

•Everyone, including adults, will be required to wear a properly fitted PFD at all times while in a boat.

•Program leaders have the authority to bar any individual from participating if there is a safety concern for either the individual or the group.

•This event is weather dependent. Pouring rain, lightning within 10 miles of the Park, or sustained winds of 10mph or gusts of 15mph or greater will result in cancellation of the program.

If you have any questions please email Ranger Jamie at Jamie.langham@tpwd.texas.gov BEFORE registering!
