Beauty after the burn
Sun, June 29, 2025
Join a ranger and volunteers to discover how our landscape has recovered after a wildfire.
This hike will start at the youth group camping area and take us through a landscape burned in a 2018 wildfire. We will view a variety of plant and animal life and learn how fire can impact our ecosystem. Expect lots of sun during this trek as there is mostly open trail with little shade. Be sure to bring plenty of water, we recommend at least two liters per person for this hike.
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
Length: 3 mile round trip
Meet: At the youth group campground along County Road 116.
Bring: Water, appropriate clothing, sunscreen, hats
Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. On busy weekends, reserve your day pass early online! Please note: You do not need to register or make a reservation for this event, just be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.
