First Day Hike! - Mesquite Bend Trail

Join in a long-standing tradition happening throughout the nation and take a hike on New Year's Day.
Join a ranger on a guided hike where we will learn about animals, plants and everything in-between! You will even receive a fun sticker when you participate.
Throughout the day there will be two guided hike times:
10 AM - 11 AM- Whitetail Loop/Spillway (easy/ moderate, ~1.25 miles)
- Meet: Parking Lot along Zaffirini Road, before you turn for the camping area
- Bring: Good walking shoes, water, binoculars (if you have them), and dress for the weather
2 PM- 3:30 PM- Mesquite Bend Trail (easy/ moderate, ~2.5 miles)
- Meet: Boat Ramp Restrooms
- Bring: Good walking shoes, water, binoculars (if you have them), and dress for the weather.
Want to do things at your pace? That's ok! Hike any one of our four trails anytime between 8 AM and 4 PM. Then, stop into headquarters to report it and get a fun sticker!
Park programs are open to the public and free with park entrance ($4 per person ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are free). No need to register -- just show up!
